McCaskill opposes single-payer health care, takes voters’ questions at Springfield town hall

This article, from the Springfield News-Leader, addresses Senator Claire McCaskill’s recent town hall meeting in Springfield, MO. At the town hall, Senator McCaskill spoke to constituents about opioid abuse, President Trump, climate change, abortion, taxes, education and foreign policy. While audience responses to Senator McCaskill were positive, the audience went silent when McCaskill said she would never support a single-payer healthcare system. Senator McCaskill also said that there should be increased access to birth control and that she would support President Trump in efforts to reduce prescription drug costs. She also expressed concern that Republican plans to try to repeal the ACA will increase health insurance costs in Greene County, where Springfield is located.
